This is a long term program to provide assistance to an effort spearheaded by the Diocese of Virac through the DVSAFI to resettle our brothers and sisters and their families who have recently lost their homes, properties and livelihood from the ravages of typhoon Reming and all other families who have had similar fates caused by other typhoons over the years. This program, over time, is also designed to provide additional shelters to all the communities throughout the island. The final objective: That no more families will have to face the fears and the dangers brought on by each typhoon that visits our island.
Our beloved Island of Catanduanes and its people have had this very unique challenge of having had to face the onslaught of typhoons almost every year. We have grown accustomed to the typhoon’s disastrous outcomes. We have accepted its toll on life, property and livelihood. Indeed we have grown resilient to whatever these typhoons bring us.We are not however left without choices to better our chances at recovery, survival and safety. The Diocese of Virac Social Action Foundation, Inc (DVSAFI), has come up with an admirable and daring program to assist everyone not just to rehabilitate homes. As we will see in the following pages, the group has outlined several other initiatives where we are invited and encouraged to participate.
This blog (weblog) has been created and is dedicated solely to support these initiatives. We anticipate that with this humble beginnings, it will, with time and God’s blessings, evolve into a more productive, pro-active and aggressive medium or tool to continuously spread the word on both the accomplishments and challenges by DVSAFI and the individuals or groups who have supported and are supporting it.
Questions on the project and donations will all be channeled through DIOCESE OF VIRAC SOCIAL ACTION FOUNDATION, INC. (DVSAFI)San Jose, Virac, 4800 Catanduanes.

A Shelter In Progress

Please click on the pictures to enlarge.
Another Shelter in progress. This one is located in Bigaa, Virac. For those that will be in Virac and would like to see firsthand what the Shelters look like, this one is located about 3 miles from the town center and is along the main road towards San Andres.
This Shelter and hopefully many more of these will get built through your generous support and donations, will give a very safe, solid refuge from the typhoons for years and generations to come.
I continue to encourage everyone to support this project.
